Mayday (also known as Air Emergency in the United States, Air Crash Investigation in the United Kingdom, Australia and other parts of the world,





These documentary's investigate many air crashes and near-crashes in modern history after the introduction of the black box flight recorders. It reveals events that led up to each disaster, the causes of the incidents and the measures recommended in the report by the NTSB or the investigating Commission to prevent a similar incident happening again. It features re-enactments, interviews, testimony, computer-generated imagery, and in some episodes, cockpit voice recordings to reconstruct the sequence of events to the audiences.

What Happened to Flight 1008 - Dan Air B727-200

Dan-Air Flight 1008 was a Boeing 727-46 (registration G-BDAN) that crashed on the 25 April 1980 while on approach to Tenerife North Airport, Canary Islands, Spain, at the end of a charter flight from Manchester. The aircraft flew into high terrain when it turned the wrong way in a holding pattern. The aircraft was destroyed and all 146 occupants killed. Dan-Air Flight 1008 marked the greatest loss of life in an accident to a British-registered aircraft.


Saudi Arabian mid-air collision



The 1996 Charkhi Dadri mid-air collision occurred on 12 November 1996 when Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 763 (SVA 763), a Boeing 747-168B en route from New Delhi, India, to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, collided in mid-air with Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907 (KZK 1907), an Ilyushin Il-76 en route from Shymkent, Kazakhstan to New Delhi, over the village of Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, India. All 349 people on board both flights were killed, making it the deadliest mid-air collision in history

Air Crash Investigation - Missing Over New York

Avianca Flight 52 was a regularly scheduled flight from Bogotá to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport via Medellín, Colombia's José María Córdova International Airport. On Thursday, January 25, 1990, the aircraft performing this flight, a Boeing 707-321B registered as HK-2016, crashed into the village of Cove Neck, Long Island, New York after running out of fuel. 8 of 9 crew members and 65 of 149 passengers on board were killed

Air Crash Investigation Hidden Danger

The rudder fails on a Boeing 737 operating as United Airlines Flight 585 and the aircraft spins out of control during approach to Colorado Springs, killing 25. Investigators are unable to determine the cause although they suspect a problem in the power control unit (PCU) which controls the rudder. Then three years later, another Boeing 737 flying as USAir Flight 427 crashes after a similar event during final approach. This time, the PCU survives intact but functions normally during testing. Two years on, Eastwind Airlines Flight 517 experiences two massive rolls to the right but the pilot is able to control the rolls and lands the 737 safely. This time an intact PCU is available for inspection. Investigations determine that thermal shock caused the rudders of the three aircraft to "hardover" and jam.

Air Crash Investigations Kid In The Cockpit

Aeroflot Flight 593, was a "Russian Airlines" Airbus A310 passenger airliner, registration F-OGQS, operating on behalf of Aeroflot, which crashed into a hillside in Kemerovo Oblast on 23 March 1994. All 75 passengers and crew were killed.


Voice and flight data recorders revealed that the pilot's 15-year-old son Eldar Kudrinsky, while seated at the controls, had unknowingly disabled the A310's autopilot's control of the ailerons, which put the aircraft into a steep bank, and then an uncontrolled dive. The pilots were not aware of the partial disconnection of the autopilot, which occurred with no audible alarm, and did not regain control of the aircraft.

Air France Flight 4590 was a Concorde flight from Charles de Gaulle International Airport near Paris, France, to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, New York, and operated by Air France. On 25 July 2000 it crashed in Gonesse, France. All one hundred passengers and nine crew on board the flight, and four people on the ground, were killed.
